Propylene glycol, or PG, is one of two bases used in vape juice. The other one is vegetable glycerine, or VG. Propylene glycol has a thinner viscosity, which makes it easier to handle. PG is one of the ingredients that provide a throat hit similar to what smokers experience when smoking an analog cigarette. VG, on the other hand, is what creates the vapor clouds when using e-cigarettes.
Most e-juice contains some PG, but you can control the precise amount of PG that you want in your e-liquid.
What is the right amount of propylene glycol to put in your e-liquid?
The most popular bases for e-juice are 50/50 PG/VG, 70/30 PG/VG, and 70/30 VG/PG.
- A 70/30 VG/PG vape juice base will provide only a small amount of throat hit, but will produce satisfying clouds. This is our best-selling VG/PG ratio.
- A 50/50 PG/VG e-liquid base will have a moderate amount of throat hit, and will also produce a moderate amount of vapor clouds.
- A 70/30 PG/VG e-juice base will give you a significant amount of throat hit, and will produce a small amount of vapor.
Our unflavored nicotine bases are available in all three of these blends. You can also purchase nicotine bases with 100% PG for a stronger throat hit.
If you're mixing your own vape juice, you can customize the PG levels even further to create your ideal level of throat hit. Most DIY vape juice mixers find that discovering their ideal level of propylene glycol takes some trial and error.
