Essential Equipment for Mixing DIY E-Liquid

Before you start making your own e-liquid, you’ll need some mixing equipment, safety gear, and mixing supplies, all of which are relatively cheap.

Mixing Equipment

There are two ways to mix DIY e-liquid: mixing by volume, and mixing by weight.

To mix your first batch of DIY e-juice by volume you'll need 2-3 graduated syringes, the same number of blunt tips, and childproof bottles for steeping and storage.

To mix by weight, you'll need a kitchen scale that measures down to the hundredths of a gram, pipettes or other comparable mixing tools, and childproof bottles.

Safety Equipment

Concentrated nicotine can be dangerous if you don't take proper precautions. To protect yourself, invest in a few good pairs of latex free gloves. You'll also want to make sure that you're wearing a long-sleeved shirt, full length pants, and closed-toed shoes while mixing DIY e-liquid.

You may also want to wear a hat and/or a hair net, and a beard net (if applicable). This will help prevent product adulteration.

DIY E-Liquid Mixing Solutions

To make your own e-liquid, you'll need your ingredients: an unflavored nicotine base, a propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin solution, and flavor concentrates (or One Shot Concentrates).

Mixing Space

Most mixers only need a small table to work with. The main concerns aren't about physical space: they're about how clean and well-lit your work area is. A clean, well-lit work area will help you make precise measurements and notice spills right away.

As a safety precaution, your e-liquid mixing area and the storage area for supplies between mixing sessions should be inaccessible to children and pets.

Many people in the DIY mixing community have a designated mixing area with shelves for their supplies. While this isn't strictly necessary, having a well-organized DIY e-liquid mixing area will serve you well in the long run.
