I don’t hear that voice in my head when I go to sleep telling me how I’m going to die of lung cancer or heart disease…
I like e-cigs better than tobacco for a thousand reasons, but I’ll tell you
the top one: I get to live longer.
I started smoking when I was 19 years old. I never thought I’d get addicted
when I started, but that’s how a young person thinks. As the years went on
and I got on with my life and my career, and especially when I got married,
I found I had so much to live for. Yet I still kept smoking. I tried a
variety of methods to give up the habit with no success whatsoever.
This past February, facing the prospect of turning 40 years old, and
realizing that I had been smoking for over twenty years, I redoubled my
efforts to find some way to quit. That’s when I discovered e-cigs on the
Internet. I researched them as thoroughly as I could, then took the plunge
and bought one.
I had thought the e-cig would be just another gimmick and I’d be out fifty
bucks and still smoking tobacco. But to my surprise, once I tried it, I
loved it. I bought some good e-liquid, and the next day I had my last
cigarette. It’s now been five months and I haven’t touched tobacco once.
My lungs cleared up, my sense of smell and taste returned, I lost my raspy
cough, and had more energy within a couple weeks. But best of all, I know
that I’ve taken a big step toward living a much healthier life, and
hopefully a much longer life as well. I don’t hear that voice in my head
when I go to sleep telling me how I’m going to die of lung cancer or heart
disease, or how I’m going to be one of those men in the grocery store towing
an oxygen tank around on a little cart.
So in that, e-cigs have given me my piece of mind back, and that is worth a
million dollars to me.
